Vedant Patel, the principal deputy spokesman for the US State Department, responded to a question on the matter regarding the alleged failed plot to assassinate Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in America.
He told reporters at a press conference: “Last week, there was an exchange of information between the governments of the United States and India to continue the related investigation. We understand that the Indian Commission of Internal Investigation will continue the investigation and we are hopeful that further action will be taken based on the discussions last week.
Vedant Patel states: “Certainly, the United States will not be fully satisfied until there is meaningful accountability based on the results of this investigation.
Nikhil Gupta, accused of an alleged plot to assassinate Sikh separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu on US soil, has been brought to America from the Czech Republic.
According to US authorities, Nikhil Gupta is accused of taking out a contract to kill Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu.
US prosecutors allege that Gupta received instructions from an Indian official to kill Gurpatwant Singh.
