Canada has imposed a 25 percent tax on steel and aluminum imported from China.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has accused China of unfair business practices.

Trudeau wrote in a social media post that China has a huge influence on the international market for cheap steel and aluminum.

Trudeau wrote: “Your unfair trade practices (in China) have caused enormous harm to Canadian workers. We are taking action to prevent this from happening.”

Earlier, during her visit to China in early April, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen also raised concerns about the “abundance of cheap Chinese goods” on global markets in negotiations with Chinese officials.

In May, when President Xi Jinping visited France, the issue was also raised by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
