Lady Gaga Releases Disease, First Single From Upcoming Seventh Album

Lady Gaga has entered a new era with the release of “Disease,” her first single from her seventh solo album.

The Grammy winner, 38, released the song on Friday, Oct. 25, which includes lyrics about healing.

“I could pretend to be a doctor, I could cure your disease,” Gaga sings, adding, “If you were a sinner, I could make you believe. Put you down like 1, 2, 3.”

The song’s dark pop lyrics continue, “I roll my eyes in ecstasy / I can smell your disease, I can cure you / Cure your disease.”

Earlier this week, Gaga hinted that the first single from her upcoming seventh album would be released on Friday. She initially dropped hints about the song’s title by capitalizing select letters in the titles of other songs on streaming platforms, eventually creating “Disease.” She also posted a playlist on her Spotify account, with the songs arranged to create “Gaga Disease.” The website gagadisease.com then directed fans to a series of websites that appeared to reveal some of the single’s lyrics.

Gaga eventually confirmed the release when her record label Universal Music released pre-streaming records for “Disease” on a pop-up site. “DISEASE 10.25,” she wrote alongside an Instagram photo from Monday, October 21, which listed the times the song would appear in various cities around the world.
After announcing the date, Gaga released a teaser video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, October 22. The clip showed someone driving a car chasing her as she ran down a street lined with a row of houses.

Throughout the year, Gaga has been hinting at her upcoming seventh album. She first made headlines about the project when she shared photos of herself in a recording studio on Instagram in January.

In March, during her birthday celebration, Gaga hinted at the release date of her upcoming album. “Today was so special,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I can’t remember the last time I was this happy on my birthday. I’m in love with my best friend, my family and friends are loving, kind and healthy. I feel my heart burst with gratitude for my health and my music. I’m writing one of the best songs since I can remember…”

Gaga then expressed her gratitude to her fans. “Thank you, thank you, thank you for loving me the way you do and for having such a true love for my songs,” she continued. “I’ve been writing pop songs since I was a little girl. I can’t believe I still get to do what I love.”
