The situation in Valencia remains serious. Its leader Carlos Mazón says: “The bodies have been found, but no further information can be given about them.”
Authorities say that six people are missing in the eastern province of Albacete. The population here is less than 1,000 people.
A rescue and relief operation is underway and efforts were made throughout the night to save people affected by the flood.
Many videos related to the floods have been shared on social media. In which vehicles can be seen submerged in water on the roads.
Hundreds of people trapped in the floods are calling for help from radio and television stations. Someone is trapped in a flood and someone is calling for help for their loved one.
In some areas even emergency services are not available. Local official Milagros Tolan told Spanish state television that drones were being used to search for missing people.
Spain’s meteorological agency said a red alert had been issued for Valencia. The second high alert was announced in Andalusia.
Valencia city council says all schools are closed until Wednesday and sporting events have been postponed. All parks have also been closed.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said in a post on social media platform X that he was looking into reports of missing people and damage caused by flooding.
Sanchez urged people to follow the administration’s recommendations. At the same time, he asked people to avoid unnecessary travel.
