The two US presidential candidates, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, have made a lot of efforts to woo Indian-Americans.
This largest share of Asian-American voters is the most politically active. In a close election, any candidate can benefit from this population.
When Kamala Harris became the US vice president in 2020, she was the first woman of Indian origin to do so. She was also the first woman and black candidate to hold the office.
However, her bid for the presidency in the 2024 election surprised everyone. This is why the Indian-American community has seen the most political activity in the last decade.
Apart from Harris, other Indian-Americans have also emerged during this presidential term. One of these names is Usha Vance. She is the wife of Donald Trump’s advisor JD Vance. J.D. Vance is the Republican Party’s vice presidential candidate.
Additionally, during the Republican primaries, voters also had the opportunity to meet Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley of the Republican Party, who vied with Trump for the nomination.
As Indian-American stars have gained prominence, the influence of Indian Americans in American politics has also deepened.
