Prime Minister Modi and Xi Jinping sat down and talked in Russia after five years, they will find out what happened

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a bilateral meeting in Kazan, Russia, on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, after five years.

The two leaders are said to have spoken for 50 minutes. Apart from Prime Minister Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval were also present at the meeting.

Sharing pictures of his meeting with Xi Jinping on Instagram, PM Modi said, “I met President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia. Apart from the citizens of both countries, India-China relations are important for peace and stability in the region and the world. Only mutual trust, respect and sensitivity will guide bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement after Chinese President Xi Jinping met Prime Minister Modi.

According to the Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, both the leaders welcomed the agreement reached on the withdrawal of troops from LAC and resolution of the dispute that started in 2020.
PM Modi stressed on the need for proper resolution of disputes and differences between the two countries. At the same time, PM Modi said that peace should not be disturbed under any circumstances.

An agreement was reached on the special representatives of both the countries on issues related to the India-China border. These special representatives will meet soon to restore peace on the border and try to find a mutually acceptable solution.

The dialogue will continue even at the level of foreign ministers to restore bilateral relations between the two countries.

What did China say after the meeting?


During the meeting, both the leaders emphasized on stable and friendly bilateral relations. Additionally, both the countries spoke about the positive impact on global peace and prosperity in their region.

Both the leaders advocated for a multilateral Asia and a multilateral world. The two leaders agreed to improve bilateral relations on all fronts and address development challenges.

China also issued a statement on the meeting between Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in its statement: “In addition to strengthening mutual contacts and cooperation, the two countries also stressed the need to resolve misunderstandings and differences through understanding.” The two leaders also advocated mutual cooperation on issues of progress. The two countries also spoke of standing shoulder to shoulder in international responsibilities.
