Union Minister and Republican Party of India (RPI) President Ramdas Athawale has made his stand on the issue of seat-sharing in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
RPI is part of the NDA alliance in the central government and the Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra. However, RPI has not won a single alliance seat in the Maharashtra Assembly elections so far.
In a statement, Ramdas Athawale said, “I have spoken to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. I have also given you a letter. The Republican Party will not win a single seat.”
Athawale said, “The Republican Party is a party of honest workers. Whatever decisions we take, we take them with great heart. The country is developing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Work is in progress for the benefit of Dalits, tribals and minorities. That is why the Republican Party is with the NDA and Mahayuti.”
Ramdas Athawale says, “We have sent a letter to Devendra Fadnavis that during the discussion on the seating arrangements, he did not call us even once. We have given a list of 21 seats to Bawankule ji. Based on that, a decision should be taken to give 4 to 5 seats to the Republican Party.”
The RPI president said in his statement, “There are still two or three days left. “The Republican Party has not won a single seat so far. It is a huge blow to our party and our society.”
Expressing hope, he said that the Mahayuti leaders should not ignore the RPI. I spoke to Devendra ji today. He promised to give Kalina a seat in the BJP quota for the RPI.
